Context
book-n-drive is the largest carsharing operator in Germany's Rhein-Main region, today close to 1,000 vehicles across 450+ stations, serving over 90,000 customers. Genijalno ran a continuous monthly engagement from 2015 to October 2024, close to a decade of ownership.
The product ecosystem was built from the ground up on top of book-n-drive's legacy HAL platform, owned by Deutsche Bahn and since retired.
What we built
- Native iOS and Android apps for free-floating carsharing.
- A Node and React.js responsive web application.
- Java middleware integrating multiple services.
- The migration from self-hosted infrastructure to AWS with CloudFormation, infrastructure-as-code led by Genijalno.
- A full CI/CD pipeline with automated integration and unit testing.
- A fast cache layer designed to sit in front of the legacy backend.
The team
A 5 to 7 person Genijalno team over the engagement, combining mobile, web, backend, and infrastructure. The relationship was long-form by design: the same team held ownership across years, not a rotating bench.
"Working with Genijalno is a breeze. I've never experienced a team of developers that is acting pro-active and forward-thinking like they do. I highly recommend Senad Biser and his team to everybody, who is seriously planning to develop their own software."
